"The peace of Belmonte". In 1496 Isabel of Aragón accepts to marry Manuel I of Portugal under the condition of Jews being forced to conversion or expelled from Portugal too. In the small town of Belmonte (Portugal) a Jewish community decides to live their customs in hiding. Despite the threat of Inquisition, the locals showed respect and tolerance. The laws of the rulers did not manage to corrupt the integrity of these people who kept the secret for 5 centuries. Hopefully this integrity expands.
Intervention for "Festa das luzes" (Hanukkah).
