Chanelar: Loanword from caló, the language of the gypsy people in the Spanish state, which means to understand or to know. Just as this variant language of Romani has adopted terms and grammar from the territories where it has settled, it has also enriched the languages of those places. Many words widely used in Spanish are an example of these bridges between cultures.
