Reaction project / Din que chove
Based on a strip by the Galician artist and politician Castelao that says “Mexan por nós e din que chove” (They piss over us and they say it is raining). With this intervention we want to focus on the problem of fires in Galicia but above all on how media informs about this subject. There are too many interests behind it to believe that these fires are common accidents due to the burning of scrub or arson. The business of fires must be dismantled.
The “Carballo” (oak in Galician) has been displaced by pyrophile and invasive trees like the pine and eucalyptus. These species grow very fast and their water consumption prevents biodiversity. The farming of these trees for the paper industry provides great profits at the expense of the environment. On the other hand burning these woods is used to reassess land.
